About OMAA

The Orientation and Mobility Association of Australasia – OMAA – is the peak professional body for Orientation and Mobility (O&M) Specialists in Australia, New Zealand and the island nations of the South Pacific region.

Our aims are to:

  • promote the O&M profession as a vital component of the human services sector in Australasia
  • establish and maintain minimum standards for O&M qualifications and registration
  • promote ethical professional practice and address any complaints relating to members
  • protect O&M professional knowledge
  • facilitate professional development opportunities through peer networks, meetings, seminars and conferences
  • foster healthy and supportive professional relationships
  • represent O&M professionals on professional issues
  • promote public understanding of issues related to O&M and people with disabilities accessing and participating in the wider community
  • publish and disseminate information about the O&M profession and O&M professional practice
